The $100 Origami Money iPhone Stand

I recently came across this useful little video on YouTube about creating an iPhone stand using a $100 note. This is great example of all the different things you can do with origami money.

What is Origami Money folding? Well, as the name suggest it is simply the folding of money using origami techniques. Origami Money folding is very popular in the USA, but you can do it in any country and use any note.

It is believed that origami money folding started in the early 1800’s and was made popular by magicians and bar men in the 1950’s.

Why do people still fold money?

  • Paper money is always available.
  • It makes for neat party tricks.
  • The paper quality is excellent for folding.
  • Folded money makes for excellent tips.
  • You are presented with an interesting dilemma. Do you keep the model (and loose the value of the money) or unfold the banknote (and loose the model). Hey, this might be an excellent idea for a savings program. I think I will try this at home.

Origami money folding is a great way to learn how to do origami. It is fun, different and you can make a lot of different models using money.

It makes for excellent tips and wedding gifts.

Ok, back to the video.

The video is short and very easy to follow. It shows you some of the basic origami folding techniques and you can actually use the origami model. A $100 bill is used in this video, but you can also use a $1 note.
